The Ballard Locks carry more boat traffic than any other lock in the US, and the Locks, along with the fish ladder and the
surrounding botanical gardens attract more than one million visitors annually, making it one of Seattle's
top tourist attractions. Northwest Artists Ron Stocke & Derek Gundy guide students through a day of sketching in pencil, pen, and watercolor. Students will be able to sketch the boats coming through the locks, interesting stuctures and architecture, scenes in the gardens and park, figures, and possible salmon as they make their way up the fish ladder. This location has such a wide variety of subject matter for everyone. All registered students receive a 9x9 or 9x12 Bee Paper Super Deluxe Sketchbook FREE with your initial workshop. When you register we will ask you which size you prefer. One sketchbook per student per season. ** Sketchbooks are not included in the Astoria Workshop in Oregon earlier in the season. ![]() |
